The festival committee has the task of recruiting volunteer for 330 shifts to make North Liberty Blues & BBQ run on July 14. Our amazing community and loyal festival volunteer base have already filled 266 of those shifts, but we need more help! Can you lend a hand for a few hours?

Last year, volunteers gave over 766 hours to Blues & BBQ in the few days leading up to and day of the festival. Volunteer hands and the support of our sponsors makes North Liberty’s biggest party of the summer possible each year. If you’ve already signed up, thank you! If you’re thinking about it, please take a moment to view the slots online. It’s a great opportunity for families, coworkers, neighbors and friends to give back to the community together.

What are the perks? Who can volunteer?
Each volunteer receives a T-shirt, $5 voucher to be used towards food or a beverage, and fanny pack filled with goodies from our sponsors. Anyone can volunteer, we just ask that those under 14 years old sign up with a parent. Inflatable volunteers do need to be at least 16 years old without a parent or guardian.
Volunteer Gifts

We’d appreciate help in any open role, but the jobs we still need the most help in are outlined below and available for signup online.

Eco-Team: There are two volunteer roles that make up our Eco-Team: attendants and patrol. Last year we diverted 3,500 pounds of waste from the landfill thanks to this group.

  • Eco-Attendants: Help us be environmentally friendly! Walk assigned areas of the park to help ensure that disposable items get put in the marked containers: compost, recycling and trash. Volunteers will also be asked to help clear and clean tables near food vendor row and in the beer garden as needed. Training and gloves provided at check-in.
  • Eco-Patrol: Teams of two cruise the park in a golf carts and change out our recycling, trash and compost bins. Sign up as a team or have us assign two volunteers to ride together and meet someone new. We provide all you need – gloves, hand sanitizer, etc. Must have a valid drivers license and must be able to lift and haul full bags.

Inflatables: Help kids have fun and be safe at our hugely popular inflatable rides! Monitor the line and number of kids and make sure they take off their shoes. Standing position – be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Must be age 16+.

Off-Site Parking: We have two off-site parking lots: UICCU Financial Center off of Landon Rd and North Bend Elementary. Use arm/hand motions to direct people to available parking. Hand out event guides, help guests on and off the shuttle, etc. Shuttles will be picking up attendees from the lots approximately every 10 minutes.Off-site parking volunteers will be provided a walkie talkie, a tent for shade, chairs and have access to a porta potty. North Liberty Parks staff will provide oversight for our parking crew.
